Under the supervision of the Maintenance Team Leader, this position acts as a single point of contact between Operations and Engineering, coordinating all day-to-day work priorities on the shop floor, and executing emergency/urgent repairs, as needed. Responsibilities includes performing troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, mechanical and electrical equipment repairs, equipment installation or removals and support Reliability Program initiatives. Ensure regulatory compliance with applicable Standard Procedures, Policies and/or Regulations. Promote and ensure a safe working environment through leadership and example.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Coordinate all priority day to day work between Maintenance/Operations/Engineering.
Shift pass downs, involvement with production unit pass downs and responsible for the maintenance unit pass downs.
Assess emergency and urgent work requests (Diagnose, Prioritize and Technical requirements).
Initiate and process corrective work orders in CMMS, and any safety permits as required.
Identify and obtain parts (planning in each shift for day-to-day work and coordinate resources and materials).
Implement work management systems.
Maintain knowledge of schedules to assign or execute work.
Work Orders Backlog awareness and control. PM awareness and production unit schedule awareness.
Help with budget control and have budget awareness cost in maintenance.
Priorities work with Manager Team Leader and area production partner.
Assist and perform some planning for priority 3 and 4 work orders.
Designate priority 3 and 4 corrective work orders to either the plan or scheduling status.
Direct and assign maintenance resources to the emergency work as required.
Execute the PM as scheduled.
Regularly communicate with operation supervision, leads and craftsmen regarding any maintenance concerns or actions.
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance activities to any machinery as necessary.
Demonstrate good knowledge in change over activities related to manufacturing operations.
Participate in scheduled departmental meetings and facilitate the communication of any maintenance and change over activities in progress with operations.
Support and participate in Reliability Initiatives for equipment operations and maintenance equipment.
Help and assist other discipline technicians such as instrumentation and/or electrical technicians in their daily responsibilities.
PLANNED MAINTENANCE:
Assess work orders with requestor to determine scope, priority, problem code, and work order type. Perform any applicable adjustment and communicate proactively to the customers.
Determine work requirements regarding equipment availability, labor, skills, materials, and tools.
Create job plans (preventive and corrective work orders) for maintenance work within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Including at a minimum, labor, duration, safety analysis, special tools, certifications, and any other required information to execute the job effectively).
Ensure appropriate labor, skill sets, tools, and materials are available as per plan to match proposed schedule.
Monitor unplanned backlog and ensure jobs are being planned in a timely manner.
Work with purchasing and contractors/outside firms/suppliers to get proposals or quotes, obtain resources, requisition material, evaluate feasibility, satisfy all commercial terms, and maintain competitiveness without conflict of interest.
Develop annual overhaul/shutdown projects plans and schedules.
Support the procedures revisions and discussions process. Support the department Training Program objectives by integrating any applicable training within the schedule.
Develops standards for repetitive jobs.
Generate/Execute/Complete Change Request associated to maintenance activities.
Participate/Leads equipment failure investigations to determine root causes and propose solutions.
Monitor and manage planned work order backlog to achieve required completion dates of work orders.
Develop work schedules that include PMs and corrective work orders, as required.
Work with operations in the negotiation of equipment/areas availability & identify opportunities to access equipment in developing weekly schedule based on current priorities.
Work with Maintenance Team Leaders and other teams to ensure resource availability by shuffling labor or reassigning to other shops.
Work with Maintenance Team Leaders to understand in-progress work order status to assist in weekly schedule development.
Reviewed proposed schedule with Maintenance Team Leader, including assigned technician required to complete work.
Assist Maintenance Team Leader in making weekly schedule adjustments to accommodate break-in (emergency) work and other schedule deviations.
Identify critical spare parts for maintenance equipment to be stocked in the site's stockroom.
Recommends to the Maintenance Team Leader spare parts replacements for maintenance equipment.
Track and report maintenance spending associated with spare parts acquisition, equipment repairs and contracted maintenance services.
Facilitates the development of maintenance strategies for all equipment. Uses historical data to perform the RFM process and construct maintenance strategies.
Support the generation of metrics such as the proportion of work which is planned/scheduled, emergency work, preventive maintenance conditionbasedmonitoring work, equipment uptime, and mean time between failures.
Support the establishment of appropriate maintenance approaches to improve the proportion of work that is planned and scheduled, increasing the proportion of work undercontrol.
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
Education
Minimum Associate/Technical degree in Industrial Mechanics, Electricity, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Electronics or Instrumentation. Bachelor's degree is highly desirable.
Minimum of eight (8) years of applicable experience in a pharmaceutical environment.
However, a combination of experience and/or education may be considered.

Licenses/Certifications
For Electricians, Electrician License from the Electricians Regulating Board of Puerto Rico is required.
For Refrigeration Technicians, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Board license from Puerto Rico is required.
