Music Graduate Student Advisor
Position Summary
Job Summary includes:
Advise all graduate students, including multiple degree students.
Assist with various enrollment procedures such as overrides and enrolling students.
Collaborate on degree certification process; design and implement degree completion worksheets.
Creating annual reviews for graduate students and tracking academic progress.
Organize and execute Graduate Orientation.
Collaborate with colleagues and advise students on certificate programs.
Assist with comprehensive exam sign-up.
Assist with RCR requirements.
Create, with the Associate Dean, graduate student focused professional development workshops.
Develop and implement strategies for communicating degree completion information and professional development opportunities.
Assist with administration of summer school (develop online course listing information, scheduling, advising, budget).
Interface with OISS; assist international students with various OISS forms (CPT, OPT, under enrollment; visa issues).
Processing admissions paperwork for visiting scholars, as needed.
Attend Graduate Program Director Meetings

Required Degree
Masters -Arts and Humanities (Music preferred)
Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree in art and humanities (music preferred).
Three years of experience in advising or arts related responsibilities. Must be able to interpret and implement academic policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
Additional qualifications include effective interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills; cultural competence, and commitment to diversity, equity, access, inclusion and belonging; and the initiative and drive to work effectively with various internal and external constituencies. Demonstrated competency in the use of current technologies [Microsoft Office 365, Campus Solutions/Student Information Systems (SIS), SLATE].
