Refinery Production Control Coordinator
Job Summary
The Marathon Kenai Alaska Refinery has an opening for an Production Control Coordinator . This role will be responsible for optimizing refinery operations, developing short-range production forecasts, feedstock scheduling, product production and scheduling, project analysis, and intermediate inventory management. This position will ensure all products meet specifications. This position will work closely with Operations and Technical Services to understand unit constraints and communicate the economic drivers of each of the operating areas. This position will also work directly with Global Feedstock and Clean Product Value Chains, RVCO Findlay/SATX, and Product Quality to evaluate opportunities on feedstocks, products, and inter-refinery transfers. The hours of this position are: 9/80 schedule. Must be able to answer calls after hours; however, all calls can typically be handled over the phone. This role would also support TAR once every three years.
Key Responsibilities
Issue one to two month forecast on a weekly basis. Review unit and tank farm constraints, market prices, product demands, and feedstock availability as a part of the forecast process.
Work with Tech Service and Operations to identify and optimize around unit constraints.
Explain forecast variances, evaluate feedstock and product opportunities, and run sensitivities as needed.
Provide incremental economics on a weekly basis to support optimization efforts within the refinery.
Perform ad hoc analysis to guide business decisions around outages and slow downs.
Analyze capital project value and provide transparent economics.
Provide coverage for other responsibilities in the group, examples include blending, modeling, target tracking, etc…
The candidate will initially be trained to use the refinery linear program (PIMS) and APS. After mastering the linear program the individual is expected to serve as a short-range forecaster.
Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor of Science. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date) OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years of operator experience in a refinery or petro-chemical.
Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery, be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
Must have a valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.)
Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
Travel Requirement is 5%.

Preferred Qualifications
Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.
6 or more years of refinery operation/process experience is preferred.
Refinery Linear Programming/Economic Analysis Tools i.e (PIMS) experience is preferred.
Aspen Petroleum Scheduler experience is preferred.
