Position Summary Employees in this position perform maintenance and repair of all concrete related matters including bridge deck repairs, sub-structure repairs, sidewalk construction including handicap ramps, curb boxes, drop inlet construction and small milling operations. The basic purpose of this work is to maintain, repair and construct a variety of roadway and building structures and supports to maintain safe roadways and facilities. Detailed Duties and Responsibilities * Assists with repairs to buildings, structures and associated systems. * Under direct supervision, proficiently mixes materials and operates a variety of tools and equipment as required for the maintenance, repair, and construction of bridge decks, expansion joints, bearing walls, piers, back walls and other associated structures. * Prepares bridge decks, piers, back walls and associated structures for repair with the use of such equipment. * Constructs and erects forms as necessary for placement of concrete. * Mixes all types of cement and aggregates with the aid of a mechanical mixer or with hand tools as appropriate. * Applies concrete to achieve tight bonds with adjacent materials. * Removes forms and inspects finished work for quality and notifies the foreman of any defects as noted. * Maintains traffic control set-ups as necessary, removes traffic barriers and drives trucks to pick up and deliver materials or equipment. * Performs general maintenance, repair and construction work. * Report under emergency conditions, such as utility breaks and snow removal as required. * Operates snow removal equipment such as snow blowers and shovels, snow plowing and sanding equipment to perform snow and ice removal; treat highways with sand or salt to provide safe pavement and traction for vehicles. * Performs diversified building maintenance work below the journeyman level when not engaged in work of primary craft. * Instructs and directs less skilled workers who have been assigned to assist in projects. * Climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts and bucket trucks. * Performs other duties which are similar in nature and skill level. * Documents and reports status of work performed utilizing written and electronic systems as required. Special Requirements: Hold a valid Construction Supervisor's License or attainment of this licensure within one year of hire date. Possession of a valid Class B Massachusetts Commercial Driver's License (CDL). This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to Federal DOT drug and alcohol testing.
