   Position Summary:

  Reporting to the Manager, Space Planning, the Space Planning and Design Coordinator (Coordinator) supports efficient and effective planning and utilization of physical spaces across all George Brown College campuses. The individual collaborates with various stakeholders to develop innovative functional space plans and supports the execution of design projects that enhance the college's learning and working environment and align with the strategic objectives of the organization and adheres to AODA & relevant standards.

  Key responsibilities:

  Supports the Campus Planning team in planning for short, medium, and long-term goals in alignment with institutional operating requirements and the Campus Master Plan.

  Supports the Campus Master Plan, translating recommendations, guidelines, and principles into operational priorities around space.

  Develops comprehensive space utilization and schematic plans that align with the college's strategic goals, taking into consideration requirements such as user needs, standards, Ontario Building code (OBC) and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

  Oversees and triages space related requests from internal user groups including capture of relevant information needed in the planning, review, and approvals process.

  Collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and students to gather and analyze feedback on space planning initiatives, ensuring program requirements are met.

  Acts as a liaison between different departments and campus stakeholders to facilitate communication and alignment on space-related matters.

  Supports the development and implementation of Facility Accessibility Design Standards (FADS).

  Supports development and renewal of furniture, space, and design standards.

  Develops project timelines, milestones, and budgets for space planning and design initiatives and projects.

  Coordinates consultants, vendors, and suppliers including building code, FF&E, and design.

  Other duties as assigned.

  Educational and Experience Requirements:

  Four-year degree from a recognized post-secondary institute in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Design, Engineering, or related fields.

  Minimum five (5) years' experience in space planning/interior design/architecture and project coordination.

  Experience with facility, infrastructure, or space-related projects (equivalency to be considered).

  Knowledge of industry-relevant codes (e.g., Ontario Building Code, AODA, TADG) and regulations. BCIN designation is an asset.

  Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit and related drafting programs.

  Experience in facility/project coordination in a post-secondary or public sector organization.

  Project management training and/or certification is preferred.

  Experience in managing projects in a unionized environment and implementing strategic plans is preferred.

  Knowledge of post-secondary operation structures is preferred.

  Skills and Attributes:

  Excellent coordination, reporting, project management, and budgeting skills.

  Able to travel between campuses and project sites on a weekly basis.

  Demonstrated communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.

  Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities and values, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and indigeneity.
