Job Summary
The Space and Occupancy Planner Lead plays a crucial role in analyzing and optimizing our physical real estate workspace. This position collaborates with various departments to analyze spatial needs, design efficient layouts, and ensure optimal utilization of facilities. Responsibilities include conducting space audits and assessments, documenting and the upkeep of all real estate site floor plans, space inventory and space assignment, developing floor plans, and recommending improvements to enhance workflow and functionality. The Space and Occupancy Planner Lead is responsible for providing space request solutions and managing day to day requests for space.
Essential Functions
Liaises, influences, and builds relationships with business partner to ensure their business’ allocation, adjacency and spatial needs are met, validating yearly headcount projections and short-term requirements
Subject matter expert on space and occupancy strategy and planning; lead for co-developing space planning methodologies at a macro level and bridging those strategies to the micro level to support individual sites and teams
Monitors, tracks and reports space and occupancy trends based on headcount forecasting, business org changes and space requirements
Leads analyses for all office sites; gathers trends and findings to support future planning
Proactively analyzes and reports on space and headcount trends to strategize long term occupancy and spatial solutions
Utilizes space and occupancy metrics and best practices to inform real estate decisions.
Performs spatial analysis to develop scenarios on the most strategic use of space; including implementing seating strategies that maximize space utilization
Champions change management for end users - creating, contributing, and maintaining employee resources to navigate workplace strategies (flex seating, hybrid work, etc)
Contributes to presentations for highly visible projects for a wide range audience (ie: senior leadership) containing but not limited to workplace standards, agile work environments, and complex phasing
Provides conceptual space occupancy plans and recommendations to stakeholders, subsequently preparing block plans or stacking diagrams.
Contributes to the development of space programs for offices; track the development and implementation of the program from project inception to completion
Travel up to 25% of the time
Required Qualifications For Position
Bachelor's Degree in interior design, Architecture, Facility Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in space planning, preferably in a multi-site corporate or utility company setting.
Strong understanding of space optimization principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance functional requirements with aesthetic considerations.
Proficient in CAD software and other relevant space planning tools.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed recommendations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments.
Detail-oriented with a keen eye for design aesthetics and functionality.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to space planning.
Problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to addressing spatial challenges.
Ability to travel within the six states NiSource operates facilities and operations in and ability to conduct field walks of properties for the purpose of space auditing.
Strong business sense of competitive economic environment and a dedication to be competitive.
Ability to work independent without daily supervision.
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
4-6 years Experience
Familiarity with sustainability practices in space planning; understands and researches current corporate workplace trends.

$77,400.00 - $116,200.00
