SUMMARY : The focus for this position will be strategic sourcing. The candidate must be able to provide functional hands on activity, vision, direction and guidance towards cost reductions, outsourcing process improvement and international sourcing strategies. Under limited supervisory guidance, assists the Sourcing Manager in evaluating leverage opportunities, conducting on-line bids and auctions, analyzing RFQs and bids, conducting supplier negotiations, and executing supply contracts and agreements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Works with Sourcing Manager and Buyers to analyze direct and indirect materials and services spend to identify opportunities for leverage.
Evaluates commodity industries, current and potential suppliers to identify trends, cost drivers and opportunities.
Prepares RFQs, including gathering the appropriate drawings and material specifications.
Analyzes the proposals and bids, conducts supplier negotiations as appropriate.
Recommends suppliers to be selected and executes supply contracts and agreements.
Prepares ad hoc reports for management as required.
Supports Sourcing Manager in development and management of supply base.
Manages, tracks and provides status of projects.
Works with Engineering and Program Management on “New Product Introduction” (NPI).
Ensures a robust and multi-sourced supply base can support all NPI activities.
Works with suppliers to ensure “ramp readiness” for NPI.
May be called upon to place initial purchase orders for first articles.
Coordinates with the Procurement Organization and individual Buyers re: suppliers and supply base.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) from four-year college or university; and two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, in a manufacturing environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, material specifications, engineering drawings, and legal documents. Ability to effectively communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Ability to effectively present information to peers and senior management.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : CPM, CPIM, and APICS certifications are preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS : This position requires the following computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Tableau and Syteline.
