Annapurna Labs is an integral part of AWS and develops HW and SW components that are critical building blocks for EC2 infrastructure. We specialize in designing semi-conductors, systems, chips, and software that optimize the AWS customer experience. More and more customers run their HPC and ML workloads on AWS to reap the benefits of elasticity and flexibility of the cloud.
We are hiring a Software Development Manager for Elastic Collectives - the lowest level of primitives used in distributed machine learning. We are adapting the NVidia stack to run over our network infrastructure using EFA (Elastic Fabric Adaptor). This high-performance interconnect can scale to intensive HPC and ML workloads over thousands of CPUs and GPUs and for blazing fast performance.
We are seeking an experienced engineering manager for a mid sized team, with hands-on experience in low-level C++ (Linux preferred), familiarity with networking (HPC networking preferred). Experience with the NVidia stack, ML applications and frameworks will be highly regarded. You’ll be leading senior, mid and junior SDEs and directing work to ensure the team delivers functions and features required for the latest and largest ML workloads.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of engineering team management experience
7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
