As the Software Development Manager (SDM) you will lead a team that builds and manages a suite of ESG tools and capabilities. Our ESG analysts, Investment Group, Compliance, and Order Management professionals use these tools and capabilities daily to manage ESG analytics, make portfolio management decisions, and ensure product compliance with ESG objectives. In this role, you will collaborate with the Product Management, head of ESG and ESG analysts, Investment Group, Compliance and Order Management professionals, Growth Platform organization, and technology associates to create and implement detailed quality technical designs for moderately complex applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.
You will lead a team of 17+ Software Development Engineers and be responsible for their coaching and professional development. You are a player-coach, passionate about our ESG mission committed to driving for superior long-term investment results through the application of modern engineering and data management methods, and possess a solid understanding of management science and principles.

You will lead a team of engineers, developing, and growing individuals on the team. You will encourage the team to be effective and efficient through a metrics-driven analytical approach.You are a hands-on manager, architecting, designing, and coding along with your team members. You have the technical expertise to provide feedback in design reviews and code reviews.You lead by example and coach your team managers and leads to do the same.You continuously improve processes, frameworks, team dynamics, and organizational values while providing technical guidance to the team.You successfully partner with Product, business users, Architecture, Enterprise Data Offices, Growth Platform organizations, and other technology teams.You reinforce company and organizational values, think and plan strategically, lead the definition of your team's culture, and drive team execution.You drive cross-organizational initiatives and lead through influence, not through direction.
Qualifications:
You have at least 12 years of prior experience as a software engineer, with a solid understanding of software engineering best practices (e.g. Agile software development, test-driven development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, etc.)You have at least 5 years of experience managing software engineers and are passionate about management, leadership, and management science.You are grounded in computer Science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.You possess outstanding communication skills and, the ability to establish and maintain a close working relationship with distributed team members and business partners.Ideally, you have experience in the ESG domain is preferred.You know design patterns including distributed systems design and OOD.
Other preferred experiences include:
Knowledge of data stores, SQL and No-SQLExperience in creating data productsKnowledge of data stores, SQL, and No-SQL.Experience with AWS services (S3, containers - ECS & EKS, Lambda)Expertise in developing solutions with an emphasis on ideal user experience for a globally distributed user base is highly desired.
Southern California Base Salary Range: $184,252-$313,228
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
