  Where is this opportunity located?     

  Position has the flexibility to work from a U.S. based home office and/or at the Brookings, SD or Rapid City, SD Daktronics campuses.  This position is open to candidates eligible to work in the U.S.

  We will expose you to multiple facets of the software world. You will experience a professional business environment where you can sharpen your problem solving and testing skills, grow in your coding abilities, and participate in agile processes. With your academic growth in the classroom, we seek to provide multiple experiences during your student career at Daktronics, which may mean rotating to different job responsibilities.  

  Finding and reporting software deficiencies.   

  Assist in manual testing of software.   

  Track test results and quality metrics.   

  Become proficient in the use of testing tools and methodologies.   

  Work with users and Daktronics personnel to answer questions and resolve problem.  

  Create automated test scripts for regression testing.   

  Develop, debug, and maintain software applications using Microsoft Visual Studio.   

  Develop and support software applications using the C#, C++, and/or JavaScript software development languages, among others.   

  Perform code maintenance on existing software products.   

  Work within a development team to solve problems.   

  Write unit tests for new code and existing code.   

  Complete quality work in a timely manner.   

  Assist in the development of software product requirements and design documentation.    

  Perform other duties as needed or assigned.  

  Regularly and reliably work scheduled hours.

  Pay and perks:

  The typical hiring pay for this position is $23.00/hour to $25.00/hour. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experience, geographic location, and applicable local legislation.

  Students with GPA of 3.5 and above are eligible for a $500 bonus (Academic Excellence Reward) each semester completed while employed.

  Qualifications

  Academic Requirements:

  The preferred applicant will be a student registered in at least 12 credits and currently enrolled in accredited Bachelor’s degree program in in Computer Science , Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related degree.  

  The preferred candidate will be in their sophomore or junior year of school.

  Only strong academic performers will be considered. Must maintain an acceptable GPA, with preference to 3.0 GPA or greater.   

  Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this position.

  Preferred Experiences:  

  Object oriented programming knowledge is required. Knowledge of C++, C#, or Java preferred, but other object-oriented languages are acceptable.  

  Knowledge of the Microsoft.Net Framework and Visual Studio.  

  Knowledge of GIT or other source control software.

  Other Requirements:

  Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.  

  Candidate should be available to work approximately 15 hours per week (maximum of 20 hours per week) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.   

  Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.  

  Good problem solving and critical thinking skills.   

  Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.  

  Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
