This isan entry level Social Worker position to assist youth and families,involved with the justice system, with environmental and supportiveservices designed to overcome financial, personal health or familyproblems; conduct individual or family assessment to determine servicesneeded; provide agency services when appropriate; and refer clients forother community services when needed. Services to clients may take theform of protective actions on their behalf or on behalf of thecommunity. This is a full-time salaried position working primarilyMonday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Strong preference for minimum of one year ofexperience working with the same population of clients that are servedby the unit in which the vacancy occurs, and familiarity with communityresources available to them. Requires basic computer keyboarding skillsfor entering data related to clients Must have valid driver\'s licenseand access to personal transportation, or other reliable means for cityand rural travel. Requires certification by the State of Wisconsin as aSocial Worker. If not certified at the time of application foremployment with La Crosse County, must have applied to the State ofWisconsin for a Temporary or Training Certificate and obtain regularCertification within specified time limits. Strong preference forcertification at time of hire. Must be versed in Chapters 48, 51, 55 and938 of the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Rules relating todetention. Must be available to work outside normal work hours and beavailable for on-call duties. Must have (or obtain within one year) 30hours of Juvenile Court Intake training.
