Wish of a Lifetime from AARP (WOL) grants wishes to people 65-plusconnecting them to their passions in recognition of their specialaccomplishments, contributions, and sacrifices. You will be a part of the team that developsstrategy; plans and creates content; identify opportunities and trends;seeks and shares best practices; and tests and learns, all while engagingour network of supporters to make aging something that is celebrated. Inaddition, you'll gain hands-on experience managing social mediaaccounts, creating content, working with multiple groups andstakeholders, and using data to reach our goals and expand our program. Thispaid internship has an anticipated start date of Summer 2024, with thepossibility of extending additional semesters.Responsibilities
This position will focus on social media support. Duties will include:Draft and edit social contentAssist with editorial planning, content management and scheduling, andchannel managementAssist with eventsAssist with reporting and data analysisQualifications
Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/universityrising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, orpost-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout theinternship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in acontinuing education programStrong writing skills, emphasis on social media writing preferredDemonstrated interest in social media and experience with analytics andreportingMust be a self-starter and adaptable, with the ability to work under tightdeadlinesAbility to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discernwork prioritiesAbility to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race,and sexual orientationTechnical proficiency in Microsoft Office programsFamiliarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple socialmedia platforms is a plusAdditional RequirementsRegular and reliable job attendanceEffective verbal and written communication skillsExhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professionalrelationshipsIndependent judgement in evaluation options to make sound decisionsIn office/open office environment with the ability to work effectivelysurrounded by moderate noiseFlexible Work Arrangement (FWA)AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except foressential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within theUnited States and its territories.Compensation and BenefitsThe hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students,and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and arenot eligible for employee benefits.
