Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Simulation Center (SIM Center) Director of Operations and indirectly to the Medical Director of the Simulation Center, the SIM Center Simulation Technician will provide technical support for all simulation operations of the SIM Center. Primary responsibilities include preparation, maintenance, and repair of computerized manikins, task trainers, and related multimedia peripherals. Online registrations for all high fidelity task trainers used by Physicians, Residents, Fellows as well as other learner groups.
Responsibilities
Serves as simulator operator by programming, testing, and running scenarios with instructors and facilitatorsAssures facility and equipment are organized and set-up for teaching sessions. This may involve moving equipment, including simulators, and other materials than can weigh up to 100 poundsOperates AV equipment, LCD projectors, monitors anesthesia machines and other equipment related to simulation education.Conducts routine equipment maintenance and inventory updatesIdentifies and communicates the need for replacement equipment and facilitates new purchasesInterfaces with vendors regarding troubleshooting and system problemsTrains faculty, facilitators, and other staff in the different simulation technologies and the operational aspects of simulation as well as the operation of AV equipment and technologiesEstablishes and maintains vital records and statistics as they pertain to simulation, including a detailed record of all education and training conducted by the SIM Center, hierarchal storage of all digitally recorded simulations, and record of repair and maintenance of simulatorsSupports collaborative research and certification projects for the SIM Center as requested, including assisting faculty with abstracts, educational presentations, poster printing, conference workshops, and manuscripts for publicationPerforms other job duties as assignedOccasionally needs to work at night and/or on weekendsMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with a range of high technology human patient simulators, task trainers, computer-based simulators, EKG or 3-D printingOne to three years' experience working in health care simulation, or surgical services or hospital laboratory, or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)\ParamedicOther Requirements
In an 8-hour workday, must be able to lift /carry:
