Job Duties
Provide technical expertise and apply sound, scientific practices and techniques to all phases of sensory and consumer testing in order to deliver robust sensory data, enabling better business decisions and project success as Sensory Research Scientist. Influence project teams to embrace efficient and effective sensory and consumer product testing methods and enhance chances of success as Sensory Research Scientist. Contribute to functional basic research projects including methodology development, training initiatives, alternative and creative ways to present statistical data as Sensory Research Scientist. Handle basic research with external companies as Sensory Research Scientist. Stay current on applicable new methodology, technology, and industry trends and implement new methods and statistical procedures into program as Sensory Research Scientist. Conduct specialized trainings on sensory descriptors and train junior scientists on a wide variety of statistical techniques including advanced multivariate analysis as Sensory Research Scientist. Plan and manage consumer research and Descriptive Analysis studies (internal and external descriptive analysis panels) as Sensory Research Scientist. Manage Data Analysis (i.e., Analysis of Variance, Principal Component Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Correlation Analysis, Preference Mapping, Descriptive Analysis Panel Performance) as Sensory Research Scientist.
Requirements
This position requires a Masters degree in Sensory Science, Experimental Psychology, Behavioral Science, Marketing science or related field plus 3 years CPG/flavor experience, or a PhD in Sensory Science, Experimental Psychology, Behavioral Science, Marketing science or related field plus 1 year of CPG/flavor experience. Additionally, the applicant must have professional experience with: (1) Planning, executing, analyzing, and interpreting results of descriptive sensory analysis projects, including descriptive panel performance analysis. (2) Consumer research testing by planning, executing, analyzing, and interpreting results of consumer studies including both quantitative and qualitative research, including managing the screening phase, questionnaire creation, test design, and utilizing statistical methods such as Analysis of Variance, Cluster Analysis, and Preference Mapping. (3) Sensory discrimination testing by planning, executing discrimination sensory tests such as tetrad and triangle tests and analyzing data. (4) Statistical analysis applied to sensory testing by utilizing Analysis of Variance, Principal Component Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Correlation Analysis, and Preference Mapping to analyze sensory data, and utilizing statistical tools to perform Descriptive Analysis panel performance analysis. (5) Experience using sensory and statistical softwares EyeQuestion, Compusense, XLSTAT to design tests, collect, and analyze data. (6) Conducting research on specific topics and being familiar with writing and reviewing scientific papers that focus on sensory science. Telecommuting: Yes; 2 days a week.
