JMT's Hunt Valley, MD office is seeking a Senior Transportation Structural Engineer to be responsible for all aspects of design for transportation structures projects. This senior level position is responsible for managing the structural design of a wide range of project sizes and complexity.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Design of new and rehabilitation bridge projects.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet project schedules and maintain quality standards.

Maintain project scopes and budgets.

Preparation of contract bid documents and managing construction phase services.

Coordination with sub consultants.

Leading design engineers and drafting personnel.

Converse with clients and establish relationships.

Ability to manage the structural design of engineering and construction projects of varying levels of complexity, and scope.

Knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete for structure components.

Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Required Experience

BS or MS in Civil Engineering from a 4-year accredited university.

12-20 years of relevant experience in structural design.

Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland.

Experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design.

Experience working with Maryland Department of Transportation.

Preferred Experience

MS in Civil Engineering

6 years of experience leading design engineers and drafting personnel.

Experience working with the Texas Department of Transportation.

Licensed Engineer in the state of Texas.

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
