As Senior Sustainability Engineer, your challenge will be to ensure that our MRI products are designed, manufactured, supplied, installed, serviced and recycled according to the Philips sustainability policy and ensures that Magnetic Resonance/Diagnostic X-Ray/OEM products comply with regulatory requirements related to sustainability.
Your role:
Acts within and advises the Business Unit MR/DXR/OEM on sustainability Mission, Vision and Strategy by establishing / Implementing the sustainability processes, procedures, work instructions and forms
Define and maintain the sustainability product roadmap to implement the Philips Sustainability policy (such as circular economics, ECO design, environmental design, etc.) and the regulatory sustainability requirements. Align this roadmap with all relevant stakeholders (e.g. Development, Procurement).
Analyze the impact on changes of regulation requirements and Philips policy & regulations with respect to product, process and competences and setup an implementation plan. This implementation plan is aligned with all relevant stakeholders.
Support designers, test engineers and suppliers (via Procurement) to implement and verify the sustainability requirements by giving guidance, including ECO and recycling passports (WEEE).
Represent the business in the Philips Sustainability Office c.q. networks. In this office, the sustainability lead will contribute in maintaining the Philips policies (including reflecting regulation changes) and deploy these to MR/DXR/OEM. Further the sustainability Engineer will exchange experiences and share best practices with his/her peers.
Support the monitoring and tracking of sustainability indicators.
Inform / Report out Sustainability progress to management and Philips Sustainability Office (example: Philips Restricted Substance list progress sheet).
Facilitate external audits (e.g. by Philips, DEKRA) on sustainability. Track audit findings / CAPAs (if applicable) to closure.
Perform assessments both internally and at suppliers to demonstrate compliancy with Philips Policies and Regulations.
Realize the ECO deliverables in PDLM (NPI) and MLD (Design Change) projects.
You're the right fit if:
Bachelor or Master Degree in Environmental sciences, Engineering or Physical / Chemical Science. (Or equivalent by Work experience)
You have at least 5 years of relevant work experience in sustainability. (Background and experience in highly regulated environment, e.g. Medical Devices is preferred).
Familiar with national and international regulations such as: ISO 14001 RoHS II, RoHS III, REACH, California Proposition 65 (must for this role) and ISO 10993-1.
Knowledge and understanding of FDA, ISO, and MDD/EU MDR regulations as applicable to Sustainability Management, QMS Management, Design Control, Auditing and CAPA.
Knowledge and experience with BOMcheck, PLM systems (iPoint/Windchill) and MS tools (e.g. MS Excel).
You have affinity and experience with working with different cultures and in an international and multidisciplinary environment.
You are a team player, flexible and you are able to work independently. You have well developed communication skills and the ability to speak effectively with customers and employees in the organization, including the management.
