You will provide engineering support for the design of substation facilities for voltages up to and including 765 kV for Worley and its Customers as an integral part of the Power Networks team. This includes new substations and switchyards, modifications, additions and upgrades to existing facilities.Responsibilities:
Independently perform tasks that typically include:Substation physical design including overall engineering and analysis for new switchyards and substations, additions and modificationsPreparation of specifications and provide procurement supportPreparation of engineering drawings including layout and general arrangements for all major equipment and structures required for high voltage switchyards or substation. Drawings include site plans, plan and ele ation views, grounding, conduit, lighting, lightning protection and shielding, control building arrangements and details, AC station service, DC systems and Bills of Material.Perform auxiliary electrical power system studies including load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, protection and coordination, ampacity, and battery sizing studies.Perform substation grounding calculations and studies, lightning protection and insulation coordination, lighting, bus calculations, transformer and bus sizing calculations, fault calculations, and AC and DC auxiliary system sizing calculations.Perform proposal preparation, proposal estimates, and provide input to scope documents and client presentationsWork in a team-oriented environment with ability to work independently or as part of a group when and as requiredResponsible for the quality assurance of the documents to the applicable Worley and client standardsCommitment to Customer service and ability to work independently on more varied and complex tasks when requiredSupervise/coordinate other engineers of equal and lesser experience to successfully deliver a project. Provides technical direction to subordinate team members.Complete tasks in accordance with project procedures, applicable codes and/or standards, on schedule and within budgetDiscuss technical problems and communicate effectively with other project personnel and outside CustomersPerform independent audits and reviews of technical workPerform the function of a team leader that is capable of solving complex issues and act as a lead engineer responsible for the quality of the deliverablesInterface with other departmental staff, project management, and with outside CustomersAbility to travel to job sites to perform site walkdownResponsible for the quality assurance of the documents to the applicable drawing standards and responsible for the proper document management procedures are followed
What you will bringTechnical and Industry Experience:
Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its CustomersA sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the electrical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fieldsA sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirementsCompetent use of electrical engineering specific softwareCompetent use of relevant software such as MS Office SuiteSubstantial technical land practical experience in electrical engineering in the same or similar industry including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teamsExperience working in project leadership roleExperience in estimating project costs and writing proposal contentIdeal candidate should have strong interpersonal and written communication skills that permit working efficiently alongside other senior substation engineers and designers in a team setting
Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:Required:
4 or 5 year Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
