Jacobs is looking for a talented Senior Specification Writer (Architecture) to join our Cities and Places team in Dubai. You will have knowledge in construction products, materials, and methods to prepare the technical specifications for a variety of complex projects and building types which may include residential, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, educational and other diverse and special building types. In addition, you will also meet the following requirements:
Maintain, develop and update the Architectural/ ID/ Landscape Master Specification document
Lead and manage the preparation of technical specifications for multiple projects
Work in close collaboration with the lead project architects to identify the specification items and specification delivery programs for their projects
Work to identify sustainability measurement methods in the projects
Research and understand local building codes, regulations, and construction standards in the Middle East
Research products, manufacturers, codes & standards, and rules & regulations as related to specification writing
Collaborate with architects, designers, and project managers to gather information on project requirements
Collaborate with project teams to resolve any discrepancies or conflicts between drawings and specifications
Review architectural drawings and plans to ensure alignment with project specifications
Develop detailed project specifications that outline materials, finishes, construction methods, and other relevant details
Provide technical guidance to project teams regarding material selection, performance criteria, and construction best practices
Multi-discipline knowledge of architecture to interact with the teams in multiple Jacobs Offices to develop detailed, project specifications
Review drawings and other project information to write and edit project specifications
Thorough understanding of project design requirements to translate project needs
Here's What You'll Need:
As a successful candidate you will hold a relevant qualification Architecture from a recognized institution
Minimum experience of 10 years in specification writing in CSI format (knowledge of Uniformat, NBS and narrative approaches is an added value)
Good working knowledge of building codes, construction materials and building techniques
Ability to work simultaneously across multiple projects and deadlines
Knowledgeable of LEED, and other sustainability rating systems
Experience with BIM project delivery
