About Senior Shipping and Receiving Specialist

  Overview

  The Senior Shipping and Receiving Specialist contributes to REI’s success by coordinating the warehouse and product movement functions of the store while executing store shipping and receiving functions. They train and act as a role model in the knowledge, skills, and tasks that deliver exceptional customer experience. In addition, the Senior Shipping and Receiving Specialist accomplishes planning and execution of events as well as operational and administrative tasks that support daily department function per the direction of the Department Manager. This role models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

  Responsibilities and Qualifications

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver training to store employees as instructed by Department Manager. Training ensures delivery of all department and store functions, including additional training initiatives from management.

  • Model desired department and store behaviors as defined by the Management Team. Demonstrate initiative and productivity and serve as a role model for store employees.

  • Coordinate execution of daily shipping and product movement tasks and priorities from Management Team. Ask department and store employees for help executing daily tasks as needed. • Plan event inventory logistics plus plan sale setup, floorset execution, and all additional administrative and operational department tasks as assigned by Department Manager.

  • Communicate priorities and tasks, promotional events, and important news to department and store employees utilizing communication methods identified by Management Team and REI.

  • Identify opportunities for additional staff training, notify Department Manager, and plan and deliver as assigned.

  • Share feedback with Department Managers regarding staffing and scheduling needs.

  • Identify areas of opportunity and act on them as it relates to inventory accuracy, price accuracy, and product stock levels. Elevate concerns or ideas to Department Manager.

  • Effectively prepare the store for customers: coordinate daily stocking process, execution of visual direction, and ensure a compelling presentation. Partner with Department Manager of Visual Merchandising to ensure visual excellence.

  • Sign out department keys and technology devices to employees.

  • Assist Point of Sale through ringing transaction, answering questions, and overriding the register as needed.

  • Embrace change and support all management change initiatives.

  • Implement and promote adoption of REI’s Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Consistent, sincere effort to invite and welcome new members to REI Co-op, promote Co-brand credit card and Cooperative Action Fund.

  • Support inclusive and welcoming store and department for employees and customers. • Participate and engage in small group discussions.

  • Maintain an organized, efficient warehouse space and inventory that supports efficient sales floor replenishment and Visual Merchandising activities.

  • Train and act as a role model to Shipping and Receiving Specialists in shipping and receiving functions as required while being competent in all required shipping and receiving job functions.

  • Verify the accuracy of incoming/outgoing shipments by comparing items and quantities against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, or other records according to REI policy and procedure.

  • Receive vendor and internal shipments according to REI policy and procedure. 10/12/2023 Page 2 of 3 • Price, organize, evaluate or ship customer and product quality returns according to stated REI policies and procedures.

  • Process and track inventory transfers, vendor or quality returns in a timely and accurate fashion according to REI procedures.

  • Provide effective 2-way communication between cross divisional partners and REI customers and staff • Follow Asset Protection and safety procedures as directed by store management.

  • Assume responsibility for other functions as directed by management team such as recycling, trash removal or simple maintenance tasks.

  • Support Physical Inventory processes, planning, and routine inventory audits as directed by Management Team.

  • Ensure compliance to hazardous waste program, including maintaining storage area and coordination of hazardous waste pickup.

  • Re/Supply processing, replenishment, and merchandising.

  • Pick, process, and ship Fulfillment orders as needed.

  • Perform all other duties and tasks assigned.

  Pay Range

  $19.90 - $23.40 per hour
