  The Enterprise Program Management Office (PMO) drives the execution of all enterprise initiatives, whether they are transformational, enable growth, or optimize operations. In addition, the PMO governs NJM’s Strategic Planning process and prioritization of NJM’s Business Technology Solutions, and leads the planning and delivery of approved technology solutions in collaboration with IT. Given the transformation that NJM is going through, the PMO is an exciting place to be!

  NJM is in the process of adopting an Agile approach to software delivery and we are searching for a Senior Project Manager who will need to be very comfortable around technology, be inquisitive, have a problem-solving mindset, and will be willing to adapt approach to successfully execute projects.

  We are seeking a Senior Project Manager responsible for managing multiple medium to large sized projects from startup through closeout and ensuring customer satisfaction. This position requires demonstrated understanding and proficiency of project management techniques and processes; and the ability to effectively apply them in accordance with NJM’s established Life Cycle methodologies.

  This position will require the ability to effectively apply project management principles (primarily agile) in a way that best ensures project success. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the project schedule and scope is adhered to and reported to PMO & IT leadership, and all project stakeholders.

  This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days in the West Trenton office location with the ability to work from home 2 days per week.

  Job Responsibilities:

  Lead the planning efforts for medium to large projects in collaboration with team members and other PMs

  Independently manage one or more assigned projects from startup to closeout while beginning to manage moderately complex and inter-dependent projects

  With guidance from Portfolio Manager, aligning project vision to business needs, effectively juggling ambiguous priorities and managing PMO, Business, IT leadership expectations

  Utilize metrics towards planning, measuring, and reporting progress, and altering course, when required.

  Creating a collaborative environment for the team to ensure success; providing leadership as necessary to align with team and project goals.

  Demonstrating knowledge of key business processes by engaging in and contributing to business process discussions rather than only technology delivery discussions

  Managing challenges and risks (not just reporting status) by identifying them proactively and proposing risk management options

  Contribute towards, and sometimes lead, process improvements based on opportunities and industry direction

  With guidance from Portfolio Leadership, managing change without an adverse impact on team or personal productivity

  Beginning to effectively address challenges/concerns raised by stakeholders during presentations or meetings

  Demonstrating personal and professional growth through continuous education and bringing new ideas into the PMO

  Required Qualifications and Experience:

  Minimum 4 year degree or equivalent experience; technical or business background preferred

  Minimum 5-year work experience in a team setting; willingness to continue working in a team setting

  Ability to deal with a fast-paced environment, think on one’s feet and adapt to changing needs quickly

  Ability to adapt and perform in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment; need to be able to think on their feet

  Competency with the core areas of technical project management and Agile methods, with proven success managing medium- to large-scale software or business development projects; (PMP, Scrum master, SAFe experience and managing data related projects is a big plus)

  Basic understanding of tooling such as Jira, Planview, etc. Very proficient in MS Office (Excel, MS Word) and essential to be able to learn and utilize tooling.

  Ability to collaborate with Technical Leads for scheduling, brainstorming, etc.

  Have an analytical mindset; comfortable working with data (accessing and manipulating, to gain insights and ability to apply those insights)

  Tech savvy and highly motivated to keep learning new ideas in project management, technology, insurance, etc.

  Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) and facilitation skills

  Experience and understanding of P&C insurance a big plus
