The Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University is seeking a highly motivated research Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the laboratories of Drs. Porotto and Moscona in the Division of Critical Care Medicine. The individual will join a diverse group in The Center for Human Host Pathogen Interactions.
The Postdoctoral Research Scientist primary responsibilities are but not limited to:
- Contributing to projects on several viruses, specifically focused on mechanisms of entry and membrane fusion medicated by measles, parainfluenza virus, influenza, Ebola, and SARS-CoV-2.
- Assessing various strategies for inhibiting entry of enveloped viruses.
- Training individuals who join the lab in the methods and approaches used in the group.
- Preparing written reports of experiments, results, and preparing figures of publication-ready quality.
- Communicating with Drs. Porotto and Moscona and other lab members as well as collaborating groups about ongoing projects.
- Contributing as needed to preparation of publications.
- Any other related research duties as assigned, including necessary laboratory maintenance tasks.
PhD. degree in Biochemical and Biotechnological Sciences plus 2 years of related experience
