This role will support Propulsion Electrification programs and lab activities within the Electric Power Systems value stream including "The Grid" - the most advanced electric power systems lab in the industry.   The System Integration Test Equipment team is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to develop project plans and budgets, pursue cost-saving opportunities to maximize project profitability, and monitor project performance.

  Onsite:

  Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work onsite. This position is eligible for relocation.

  Primary Responsibilities:

  Manage complex projects, working with a cross-functional team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Software engineers.

  Create and maintain project schedules and budget forecasts for new system development programs, as well as capital projects.

  Identifies and reacts to project issues and recommends solutions.

  Manage work packages and schedules with the Earned Value Management System (EVMS).

  Provide metrics and associated analysis to the program office for periodic Earned Value Management System (EVMS) reporting.

  Work closely with the Section Manager to assign project priorities, assign engineering resources to projects, and assess risks.

  Lead weekly project status reviews with the team.

  Provide project status reports to Senior Management, Program Management, and Finance.

  Primary focal point between Engineering Test Equipment and internal and external customers.

  Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  3+ years related experience as a Project Engineer.

  MS Project knowledge is required.

  Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  EVMS knowledge is preferred.

  Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of Products.

  Employee Referral Eligible

  The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

  This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
