  What You Would Do in This Role

  The Senior Piping Material Specialist participates in the design of different aspects of energy industry projects from inception to completion. Your duties include:

  Being the main project point of contact for the coordination of piping materials.

  Exercising cost/budget control, and reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with control estimates and project specifications

  Reviewing and maintaining project schedules, and tracking project tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project management

  Supervising the various activities involved in the design of a project consisting of several complex process units

  Providing technical guidance to junior staff

  Interfacing with client representatives

  Maintaining current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards

  Reviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements

  Adhering to Vista Quality Management System (QMS)

  Ensuring design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements, including Vista and client specifications and standards

  Assigning and outlining work for others, and reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacy

  Actively stewarding change management as related to their scopes of work

  Providing construction support

  Developing new and review existing line class specifications

  Defining piping line classes (flange ratings)

  Completing and reviewing piping data in the line list

  Preparing and reviewing engineering work packages

  Preparing and reviewing manual valve and piping specialty item lists

  Preparing and reviewing valve and specialty item datasheets

  Preparing scope changes and estimating hours

  Preparing and reviewing tie-in lists

  Checking piping isometric materials

  Performing and reviewing maximum allowable flange rating and wall thickness calculations

  Preparing and issuing piping registration packages and responding to ABSA clarification requests

  Preparing and reviewing material requisitions and technical bid evaluations

  Preparing material take-offs (MTO) for piping, valves, fittings and specialty items or check MTO if created from the 3D model

  Preparing and reviewing commodity purchase specifications (pipe, fittings, etc.)

  Providing input to P&ID for manual valve and specialty item tagging

  Performing other duties as requested

  Requirements

  Eight years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry

  Technical school certification / degree or equivalent experience.

  Ability to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnel

  Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

  Strong written and oral communication skills

  Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail

  Self-motivated and efficient in time management

  Strong working knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and industry standards

  Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits

  Preferred

  Eight years or more of experience as a fully qualified engineer, with five or more years of experience in the energy industry.Why People Like Working with Us
