BAE Systems is seeking a proactive Sr. Mechanical Engineer with diverse analytical capabilities and demonstrated technical expertise. This individual will design, develop, integrate/test dynamic electronic military systems. The engineer will work closely with hardware integrated into a variety of complex countermeasure and electromagnetic attack solutions and products including compact electronic warfare systems. The individual must be a self-starter and is desired to have development experience working with integrated military electronic hardware and related test equipment.
The selected candidate will be expected to execute both individually and in small, yet diverse, Agile hardware team environments throughout critical phases of the product life cycle including concept development, detail design, qualification, and manufacturing transition. The engineer will be responsible for developing robust hardware solutions to meet demanding customer requirements and will leverage their mechanical engineering expertise to perform detailed design and analyses. Day to day, activities may include generating 3D solid models, drawings, and documentation utilizing GD&T principles; performing tolerance analyses to assure fit & function; performing thermal, structural/stress, and modal/vibration analyses; assessing designs against environmental requirements; as well as generating prototypes and and conducting, test and verification efforts.
With a product focus, the individual will actively partner with other engineering disciplines and operations personnel to develop solutions that adhere to DTUPC, DFT, and DFM requirements. Additionally, the engineer will support resolution of technical issues that are discovered during manufacture and test of deliverable hardware. This may include evaluating and troubleshooting mechanical faults and issues, assessing test failures for root cause, identifying disposition/corrective actions, as well as designing test equipment to ensure the performance and integrity of manufactured products.
The successful mechanical engineering candidate will have applicable experience in the following areas:
Agile hardware development, risk-reduction prototyping, and requirements-driven design and verification
Knowledge of engineering development processes for aero/defense industry
The candidate should possess an understanding in the application of heat transfer principles, strength of materials, materials selection, design for vibration environments and the ability to apply those principles to unique mechanical design challenges.
Design, development, analysis and testing of electromechanical architectures, hardware and systems
Demonstrated experience in Product/Factory Support of DoD military electronics/avionics equipment
State-of-the-art mechanical engineering design/analysis and development tools
Familiarity with design, analysis and manufacturing standards associated with complex multilayer rigid and rigid-flex CCAs
Strong hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, equipment, and processes
MIL specs & standards, industry standards including ASTM, SAE, DO
Engineering documentation and presentations

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4 OR a Master s Degree and 2 years of relevant experience in the aero/defense industry
Active (Eligible for) DOD Secret Clearance HIGHLY PREFERRED
4 years of demonstrated experience in hardware architecting, product development and support of complex DoD military electronics/avionics equipment
Solid fundamentals of mechanical design, analysis, and documentation principles
Experience with state-of-the-art mechanical engineering development software tools
Understanding of complex hardware manufacturing and test methodologies
Excellent problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability, with proven ability to research and apply mechanical engineering principles and theories to solve mechanical engineering problems.
Demonstrated experience with Agile hardware development, risk-reduction prototyping, and requirements-driven design and verification
Knowledge of engineering development processes for aero/defense industry
Motivated self-starter with ability to effectively work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Ability to close on discrete tasking in a timely manner, within allocated budget, and lead others to closure - Own the Design
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting technical information to program teams and/or customers

Experience in the design/development of complex mechanical systems and hardware
Experience in the design and manufacture of electronic circuit card assemblies
Knowledge of design for manufacturing (DFM) principles
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $81500 - $138600
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
