Job Description
Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to continue working in the maritime industry?
If so, our USCG Ship Design team is looking for you! As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will:
Work within the Maritime Lifecycle Readines team and provide marine engineering expertise

A week in the life of a Senior Mechanical Engineer:
Lead in the design, development, and evaluation and operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, such as power supply and propulsion systems.
Review third party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems
Perform design reviews, evaluations constructability reviews, helping resolve technical uses and managing information generated through design and construction phase
Lead marine engineering analysis related to vessels
Help team to create graphical representations of structures
Inspect equipment or systems
Research advanced engineering designs or applications
Support in preparation of technical reports for internal use
Job Requirements
MA or MS Degree
Ability to obtain a Secret level clearance
At least 10+ years of experience in:
Marine specific fields such as auxiliary systems, propulsion systems, fluids and hydraulics.
Minimum of at least one (1) year demonstrated experience with shipbuilding
Minimum of at least one (1) year demonstrated experience supporting a major system acquisition program (DHS/USCG Level I, DoD ACAT I or equivalent)
Be proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Share Point and MS Outlook other software/tools provided on the Coast Guard Standard Workstation

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $140,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
