  Position Summary

  The Senior Grant Administrator is experienced in managing federal, state andlocal, and private grants and awards. This position requires knowledge andexperience working in electronic research administrative systems such asBanner, Infoed, Proposal Central, Grants.Gov system (Workspace),Eracommons (ASSIST), and NSF systems (Research.gov) submissionsprocessed. Extensive pre-award and post-award experience is required, aswell as proven organization and time management skills and the ability to meetdeadlines. The successful candidate will have exceptional analytical skillsand bring a collaborative leadership system. This position is part of theDean's office and reports to the Assistant Dean, Finance and Operations.

  Essential Functions

  In addition to following the University of Denver's policies andprocedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  Works with the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP), NSMfaculty, Staff and Students, and various institutes to coordinatefinancial processes such as subcontracts, invoices, and joint researchfunding.Works closely with ORSP to monitor multiple grants and financial systems toprovide appropriate documentation.Develops and prepares accurate and timely financial reports and prepares adhoc reports as needed for budgeting and planning purposes.Works with faculty on forecasting long-term funding of research staff andstrategies to maximize full utilization of staff time across multiple sourcesof funding.Assist PI and ORSP with establishing subcontracts. Prepares re-budgetrequests and resulting amendments. Ensures compliance with applicable policiesand guidelines.Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to RSEC grant staff to assuregrant staff are current and knowledgeable with DU grant policies andprocesses. Provide support to RSEC in the event of a vacancy in their grantposition.Provide organization, leadership, and guidance to PI and grant staff ongrant audits by funding organizations, assuring that both program andfinancial systems are in place and being followed by all parties involved inthe grant process.Ability to reconcile the monthly and annual grant activity from theuniversity's electronic reporting system.Maintains a strong understanding of multi-organizational fringe benefits,indirect cost rates, leave reserve, and other financial policies, andtheir impact on fiscal year reporting.Advises Assistant Dean of Finance and Operation on intuitional and sponsorpolicies and their impact on the college's financial matters.Assistant faculty in the preparation of grant proposals, including budgetdevelopment and the review of application requirements and required forms,as well as oversight for uploading the proposal on the grant portal.The Senior Grant Administrator established guidelines for proposalsubmissions while ensuring compliance with ORSP organizational timelines andstandards for proposal submission.Maintain grant application information/ templates, including current IDCrates, tuition rates, fringe rates, leave reserve, and other supportresource pages.Identifies and follows policies, processes, and procedures to ensurecompliance, based on guidance.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  Exceptional knowledge of grant policies, processes, and systems.

  Knowledge of OMB Uniform GuidanceKnowledge of IRB Process and its impact on awardsAnalytical skills, strong orientation to detail, and ability tomanage/prioritize multiple projects.Ability to work well under pressure with deadlinesAbility to be flexible, proactive and result orientedKeen analytical and problems solving abilitiesAble to communicate and collaborate effectively and diplomatically with avariety of stakeholders.Ability to comprehend contractual documents/agreementsDemonstrated ability to work with confidential and privileged informationrequired.Advanced Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on ExcelUnderstanding of government grants administration, account and projectmanagement principles.Required Qualifications

  Bachelor's Degree

  3-4 years of experience in budgeting, accounting, grants or contractmanagement, research administration or another field related to the position.Preferred Qualifications

  Advanced degree

  4-6 years of experience in budgeting, accounting, grants or contractmanagement, research administration or related experience in academia.Working Environment
