GA-EMS is seeking a senior electrical engineer who will be responsible for the design, analysis, and testing of advanced power electronic systems for both military and commercial applications. The engineer will be responsible for designing, testing, supporting, and troubleshooting components of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems operating up to several megawatts. Examples of such systems include rectifiers, inverters, transformers, and DC-DC converters. The candidate will also have similar responsibilities for the sensors, control systems, and interfaces required for such systems.
The engineer will be expected to use his or her experience and knowledge of engineering principles and procedures to make independent technical decisions on important programs. The candidate should be able to lead small technical teams in solving complex problems, planning, and coordinating efforts of technical teams as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performing detailed design of electrical energy storage, power conditioning, transformers, and control systems for systems operating up to tens of megawatts
Design of both air cooled and encapsulated transformer products
Design custom transformers for OEM applications
Preparing drawings for fabrication and procurement
Develop and implement design improvements to enhance or cost reduce existing dry type transformer designs using various standards
Collaborate with other departments to establish product concepts, perform design verifications, carry ideas through final product design and respond quickly to design change requests
Writing requirements, specifications, and design reports
Creating, executing, and documenting test plans
Manage multiple projects and priorities to meet established deadlines
Presenting designs and troubleshooting analyses for technical review
Directing junior engineers, designers, and technicians as needed
Performing other duties as required

Job Qualifications:
BSEE with 12+ years, MSEE with 10+ years, or PhD with 7+ years of related professional experience
Proficiency in the design and analysis of power conversion topologies and understanding of operating characteristics of power electronic components such as IGBTs, power MOSFETs, and SCRs
Experience designing magnetic components for power electronic systems
Understanding of rotating and linear machines, including induction motors and synchronous generators
Experience designing analog and digital circuits
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance is desired
Excellent communication and organization skills and a proven team player Customer contact and minimal travel is required
