  Summary:

  The goal of the Facilities team is to ensure all ASPCA locations are fully operational so that staff and volunteers have optimum conditions to meet their program and department goals. In addition, the Facilities team ensures a healthy environment for all staff and for all animals that visit our locations, whether on a short-term or long-term basis.

  With the support of ASPCA leadership, the Senior Director, Facilities Operations is responsible for developing and leading facility operations strategy, teams, tools and solutions. The role focuses on ensuring all ASPCA spaces are safe and well-maintained with routine, proactive maintenance. Moreover, the Senior Director ensures compliance with lease and regulatory requirements, has strong involvement in any expansion and/or relocation efforts by developing and implementing a strategic financial plan to ensure that we are utilizing our resources responsibly. The Senior Director, Facilities Operations works closely with the Vice President, Real Estate and Capital Projects to ensure new facilities are designed and constructed to operate efficiently.

  This role oversees the Facilities Operations Department, which is currently comprised of over 30 staff members including 4 direct reports. The Senior Director will report to the SVP and Chief Financial Officer.

  Responsibilities:

  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  Facilities Operations Management (40%)

  Oversee all facility-related management in all ASPCA spaces and ensure a high level of responsiveness to facility issues for each locationFacilitate relationship with neighboring businessesPrepare and manage two annual operations budgets with Facilities directorsEnsure compliance with terms of lease agreements, as well as develop and maintain strong relationships with landlord representativesEnsure that all buildings are compliant with building codes/regulations and all government-required inspections occur in a timely manner, both in collaboration with Operations managers and the Facilities Operations teamDevelop and oversee preventative-maintenance programs (PMP) for all building equipment and infrastructureOversee all repairs and maintenance of all ASPCA facilitiesSupport the launch of new ASPCA facilities, leading facilities related tasks in partnership with other launch leads; assist in facilitation of any relocations as needed, overseeing facilities relations tasksInterface with ReCap personnel to ensure smooth handoff in areas of overlap, such as the completion of construction leading to opening of facilityOrchestrate all small capital improvements with Operations managers and other stakeholdersEnsure a safe and healthy working environment for both people and animals in all facilities, in collaboration with Director of Safety and Security and other relevant stakeholdersAdvise Operation managers as needed on equipment, appliance and furniture repair/replacementParticipate in steering committees for the build out of large-scale renovations for newly- identified real estateManage vendor procurementManage the Office Services Department that oversees records archiving, courier and postal servicesWork with the Senior Manager, Fleet to oversee the ASPCA's fleet program, including strategy, compliance, and ongoing maintenance.

  People Management (40%)

  Ensure the effectiveness and success of Facilities Operations people managersLead the Facilities Operations team to engage productively with all external partners (e.g. landlords) as well as all internal partnersManage the performance and on-going development for all Facilities Operations Department employees, ensuring that staff possess the required skills and technical competenciesProvide coaching and mentorship for direct reports through regular and direct feedbackPromote strong, people-focused culture aligned with the ASPCA's core values and behavioral competenciesMaintain strong, productive relations with our unions and their members, taking an active part in negotiations when needed

  Supporting On-Site Training Efforts: (20%)

  Work with onsite Facilities Operations managers to ensure ASPCA compliance with terms of lease agreementKeep current on community affairs, including: community councils, community boards, local authorities, etc., so that ASPCA staff are aware of trends and relevant informationParticipate in emergency-evacuation planning and exercises

  Work Experience:

  Experience in property development or construction management (preferred)Experience with unions and labor relations (preferred)Experience interpreting construction documents (preferred)At least 5 years of experience managing staff and leading teams (required)Experience managing a large, national fleet of vehicles (strongly preferred)At least 10 years of experience overseeing facilities operations tasks (required); experience managing teams that directly support facilities operations responsibilities (strongly preferred)Experience developing and overseeing budgets (strongly preferred)Demonstrated experience in prioritizing critical tasks and projects (required)

  Skills

  Additional Information:

  On-site presence required five days per week at one of the ASPCA's New York City locations25% Travel at all ASPCA locations requiredThe role requires occasional flexibility and is on 24/7 call as necessaryBachelor's degree or higher (preferred) or equivalent work experience

  Compensation and Benefits:

  Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and staff compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary range for this role is set forth below and may be modified in the future.

  The target hiring range for this role is $145,000 - $155,000.00 annually
