About the Team
The AP Curriculum and Assessment Team at College Board (40+ staff)collaborates with colleagues across all aspects of the AP Program todevelop, manage, and deliver AP's 40+ courses in a wide variety ofsubject areas. AP is a rigorous academic program built on thecommitment, passion, and hard work of students and educators fromsecondary schools and higher education. AP provides willing andacademically prepared high school students with the opportunity to studyand learn at the college level. AP's Course Leads and Assessment Leadsensure that course curricula are aligned to higher educationexpectations and reflect the state of the art in the discipline,contribute to instructional resources and tools for teachers, anddevelop assessments that allow students in these courses to demonstratetheir mastery of course content and skills. The English, WorldLanguages, and Arts department, which includes English Literature,English Language, Spanish Language, Italian Language, French Language,German Language, Chinese Language, Japanese Language, Latin, MusicTheory, Spanish Literature, and Art and Design (2-D, 3-D, Drawing) iscurrently made up of 15 people supporting 14 courses in the APportfolio.
About the Opportunity
As the Senior Director, AP World Languages and Literature AssessmentManager you will manage a small team of assessment specialists in APSpanish Literature and AP Latin guiding their assessment work anddeliverables, as well as managing their training and development inassessment best practices.
The Senior Director, AP World Languages and Literature AssessmentManager serves as the primary point of contact in AP for all assessmentcontent for AP Spanish Literature and AP Latin collaborating closelywith the AP World Languages Department Head and Senior Director, APEnglish, World Languages, and Arts Assessment Manager. The SeniorDirector, AP World Languages and Literature Assessment Manager mayprovide assessment development support in other related subject areas.The Senior Director, AP World Languages and Literature AssessmentManager is responsible for all item development and management fromauthoring to administration; training and collaborating withsubject-matter experts (SMEs), typically college professors andsecondary school teachers. S/he/they trains SMEs on assessmentdevelopment protocols, translates between academics and technicalexperts (psychometricians), and collaborates to develop formativeassessment materials and resources to support AP Spanish Literature andAP Latin teachers worldwide.
In this role, you will:
Assessment Development and Scoring (33%)
Be responsible for overseeing the development and management of allassessment content through iterative review stages with multipleinternal and external stakeholders, including the AP SpanishLiterature and AP Latin Assessment Leads, Course Leads, AssessmentProduction team, Test Development Committees, and the Chief ReadersBe responsible for overseeing the authoring/revising of assessmentcontent and training educator constituents to author assessmentcontent, including selection of appropriate stimulus material, andapplying best assessment practicesfor AP Spanish Literature and APLatin.Be responsible for overseeing the development of all assessmentforms for AP Spanish Literature and AP Latin, ensuring the AP Examdevelopment aligns with approved curricula and test specificationsBe responsible for overseeing multiple face-to-face, weekendmeetings, and virtual meeti gs (during work week, evenings, orweekends) annually with each of the committees within the SeniorDirector's stewardship as well as other committee meetings in theworld language discipline, as neededBe responsible for overseeing the successful scoring of student APExams at the annual scoring event in person and online-the APReading-and produce AP Reading publications materials for teacherand student usefor AP Spanish Literature and AP LatinAssessment Quality and Process (33%)
Contribute to current research and best practices related to assessment;participate in regular discussions with other AP Curriculum Assessmentmembers on the current assessment standards and practices to build a setof common, shared beliefs about AP's assessment directions within thelarger educational and assessment community
Contribute to processes for efficient, high-quality assessmentdevelopment
Refine and improve question task models as well as exam design incollaboration with and aligned to other College Board initiatives
Monitor and improve exam validity, reliability, fairness, and quality,as well as reader reliability in accordance with established Programthresholds
