  This opportunity is accountable for representing the company by providing legal

  guidance across the organization, providing in-depth analysis on complex issues, recommending appropriate solutions to management, and developing strategic practices to ensure that the Company's concerns, issues, risks, and liabilities are identified and resolved effectively.

  Essential Job Responsibilities

  -Actively supervise, manage, and direct a caseload of litigation by or against the company to successful outcomes.

  -Provide legal advice and support with respect to insurance policy analysis and interpretation on all lines of business.

  -Assist in preparing witnesses, discovery, selecting and managing panel counsel and delivering better litigation management processes.

  -Participate in training and reporting trends and developments to key clients and

  stakeholders.

  -Collaborate with internal partners in drafting, investigating, researching, and advising with respect to contracts, disputes, compliance, products, laws and regulations.

  -Assist with special projects as necessary.

  -Manage legal projects by defining scope, setting milestones, delegating tasks, tracking progress and reporting project results to ensure successful and efficient implementation.

  -Model QBE values in personal work behaviors, decision-making, contributions and interpersonal interactions.

  Required Education &/or Experience

  Education

  -BA/BS Degree

  -Juris Doctor Degree

  -7+ years experience

  Preferred Experience

  -At least 10 years proven experience in handling insurance coverage and bad faith litigation and policy interpretation at a top tier law firm and in-house at a Fortune 500 insurance companyLicenses/Certifications

  -Admission to the bar

  Knowledge:

  -Laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process

  -Business acumen

  -Policies, practices, trends, and information affecting his/her business and organization

  -Litigation methodologies and best practices

  Skills

  -Effectively present thoughts to key stakeholders to influence adoption of innovative recommendations

  -Negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups to settle differences with minimum noise

  -Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and implement solutions

  -Anticipate legal obstacles and challenges and strategize plans to address

  US Only - Travel Frequency

  * Infrequent (approximately 1-4 trips annually)

  * General office jobs: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is not substantial

  exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for

  extended periods of time. Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephone, headset and

  computer. Incumbent must be able to lift basic office equipment up to 20 lbs.

  Compensation

  Base pay offered will vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location and business needs

  Annual Salary Range: $118,000 - $178,000

  Annual Salary Range: $130,000 - $196,000

  CA (Remote, Irvine and Woodland), Greenwood Village CO, CT, Chicago IL, MA, MD, NY (Remote), RI, Houston TX and WA

  Annual Salary Range: $148,000 - $223,000

  San Francisco CA, NJ and New York City NY
