Job Overview
The Cardiac Sonographer Senior performs clinical echocardiographic studies forcongenital heart disease on patients ranging from neonatal to adult; assiststhe laboratory with complex cardiovascular malformations and technicallyadvanced cases. The Senior Sonographer has obtained a high level ofproficiency, competency and knowledge in the field of pediatricechocardiography; provides instruction and orientation of new employees,physicians, fellows, students and preceptors; possesses advanced cardiacultrasound theory and techniques; experienced in the field of cardiology,comprehension of anatomy and physiology, with specific experience inpediatric cardiac ultrasound.

Department Name: Noninvasive CardiologyHours per week: 40, eligible for benefitsShift:Monday - Friday; 8- or 10-hour shifts. Weekend/weeknight call andholiday shift rotation.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Specialized course work (orequivalent) in a 2 year college program with emphasis on imaging modalitiesor other associated medical program.Experience: Five years of experience in the use of Motion-Mode(M-Mode), 2D, Pulse Wave (PW), Continuous Wave (CW), andcolor flow Doppler techniques.Certification(s):Pediatric Registry required; Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS);Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) orRegistered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through CardiovascularCredentialing International (CCI);BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months leftbefore expiration is required upon hire

These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Performs clinical echocardiog aphic (echo) studies, newborns toadults, for congenital heart disease with a high degree of difficulty orcomplexity requiring knowledge of hemodynamics, physiology, and congenitalheart disease.Completes echocardiography studies strictly following departmental sequenceand protocol.Completes Doppler studies and obtains appropriate color flow and spectralanalysis Doppler data including advanced analysis of hemodynamics.Prepares accurate preliminary summaries of the echocardiography findings forcardiologist interpretation providing documentation of observed echo
