THE ROLE
You will be the leader of the Sotheby’s Hong Kong Business Management team, driving financial results, growth,and profitability for this key business area. You will act as a business partner to the Hong Kong management team and Hong Kong specialists focused on Asia region P&L management and reporting, pipeline management, and deal making. You can think analytically, synthesize quantitative and qualitative information, and are excited by proactive problem solving. You are excited by leading a team and inspire collaboration and strong financial partnership in the Hong Kong Business Management group. The team you oversee will be responsible for Asia based private sales, private selling exhibitions, and auctions, which totaled over $1 billion in 2022, marking Sotheby's seventh consecutive year as Asia's market leader.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit, train, manage and develop the Hong Kong Business Management team. Foster and develop a strong collaborative working environment for ongoing development and growth in the Hong Kong Business Management team. Own and execute global consistency of the Business Management roles in Asia. Review and approval of monthly financial reporting for Asia region specialist departments; across all sale channels [auction, marketplace, and private sales]. Prepare and distribute Hong Kong Pre-Sale Analysis and Post-Sale Review with variance analysis, commentary, and business improvement recommendations. Own the pipeline of all Hong Kong deals to drive sales and accountability, in active collaboration with the Commercial Office; responsible for ongoing pipeline reporting of all Hong Kong sales. In partnership with key stakeholders including the Commercial Office, lead annual Asia region budget planning and regular forecasting; including but not limited to adhering to and using global reporting templates, lead for Asia region summary for Hong Kong management team, and partnering with local teams for execution and accountability. Translate financial results and KPIs into operational recommendations to optimize the business. Support senior management on growth projects and strategic analysis to develop into actionable financial plans (e.g. cost savings, auction growth, and direct sales). Work collaboratively to propose, manage, and implement efficiencies, integration, and adoption for new or enhanced process improvements, specifically deal execution and reporting, aligned to overall responsibilities. IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
Bachelor's degree required. 8+ years of professional experience in a business management, banking, financial or consulting role. Strong communication and relationship-building skills; ability to succinctly present to stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds. Prior deal or contract negotiation experience preferred. Advanced Excel skills. Highly organized, detail oriented, multi-tasker. Creative problem solver, energetic and persistent. Confident team player, capable of working well independently in ambiguous situations. Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead, manage and grow a team. Prior art and luxury experience is not required, but an interest or curiosity is encouraged. The Company is an equal opportunity employer.
