  THE POSITION

  Are you looking for an exciting challenge in an ever changing and fast-paced work environment? The Department of Human Services, Norristown State Hospital is seeking a hard-working individual to fill a full-time Security Officer 2 position. This position provides shift supervision involving the security of three patient and multiple administrative buildings of the Security Department at Norristown State Hospital.   DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  As a Security Officer 2, you are responsible for the supervising duties of the security staff. Supervising duties include preparing and updating job descriptions, staffing needs including approving and disapproving leave to ensure minimum staffing is maintained with minimal overtime, assigning work, and completing employee performance reviews. In addition, you are responsible for training lower-level Security Officers to provide the job knowledge for them to perform required tasks in accordance with guidelines established by the Safety Manager and DHS written policies.

  You are also responsible for traffic and parking control and enforcement, prevention and detection of crime, and the enforcement of policies, rules, and regulations relating to the welfare and safety of patients, employees, and the visiting public.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment, 40-hour work week

  Work hours are 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, every other weekend and holidays as assigned.

  May change based on operational needs

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  One year as a Security Officer 1 ;or

  Any equivalent combination of experience or training which provides the knowledges, skills, and abilities required to provide supervisory security services.

  Special Requirement:

  Requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license. Other Requirements:

  Write incident reports which includes a detailed narrative description of the nature of security violations/other incidents, and vehicle accident reports. Maintain logs signing visitors in and out, check ID badges, record names of employees on grounds after normal working hours, check on the status of employees by doing a door report through the door access system, log keys in and out, and log other incidences related to the security of the assigned areas. Complete daily shift patrol log detailing all actions taken during the shift.
