Mission
The Sales Manager manages and implements plans to successfully achieve sales of the company’s products and services opportunities within the road construction business market segment. These activities ensure the consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues and that sales objectives of the road construction market segment are achieved by the sales team to improve short and long-term sales and earnings growth. This role will support Barrett Upstone: the Plattsburg, NY, Saranac La ke to Watertown and our NYN Region consisting of – Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence, UMI – St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, Essex and possibly Herkimer and Hamilton as well.
Job Summary
Sales Leadership: Leading and managing a team of sales professionals within a specific division or region.
Sales Strategy: Developing and implementing effective sales strategies to achieve divisional sales targets and objectives.
Performance Management: Setting sales targets and KPIs for the team, monitoring performance, and providing coaching and feedback to improve sales performance.
Team Management: Recruiting, training, and mentoring sales team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to succeed.
Market Analysis: Conducting market research and analysis to identify new business opportunities, market trends, and customer needs within the division.
Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders to drive sales growth and customer satisfaction.
Forecasting and Reporting: Monitoring sales forecasts, analyzing sales data, and preparing regular reports for senior management on divisional sales performance.
Collaboration: Collaborating with other departments, such as marketing, product management, and operations, to align sales strategies and achieve overall business objectives. Budget Management: Managing the divisional sales budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and expenses are controlled. Continuous Improvement: Identifying areas for process improvement and implementing best practices to optimize sales operations and increase efficiency.
Main Responsibilities
Ensures the watch of the development of his/her market in order to identify "upstream" opportunities concerning development and order taking (works, products or services)
Ensures commercial and business prospection
Selects business opportunities and participates in negotiations with the local management of the Business unit
Organises and develops Key Accounts (customers, designers, partners, etc.)
Develops the local business development & sales strategy and ensures the monitoring of the Commercial Action Plan
Ensures the monitoring of major business opportunities with the tendering team for an optimal competitiveness
Ensures customer loyalty: measurement of satisfaction, raising awareness of the other players in the company, etc.
Contributes to marketing strategy: market research, new offers, product promotion, institutional relations, etc.
Develops synergies internally & externally and networking with peers
Manages his/her team: ensures the management, organisation, support, assessment and training
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or related discipline required. Minimum of seven years substantial and broad business experience in Business Development , Sales Management and/or Account Management with at least 3-5 years demonstrated success in selling and developing new business with revenues ranging from $5 million to over $100 million. Demonstrated experience leading complex sales processes that involve multiple team members and multiple decision makers (primary decision makers).
