If you are an ENGINEERING student looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our CUDAHY, WISCONSIN location, you will respond to customer inquiries in the renewable gas and process refrigeration markets, create and/or identify solutions to customer needs, and price the costs of those solutions under the direction and guidance of the Sales Engineering Manager.
AS A SALES ENGINEER INTERN, YOU WILL:
Receive training on gas and refrigeration compressor products, solutions, and systems and how to utilize selection software and quoting tools.
Learn how to evaluate inquiries and specifications to create formal proposals for the Sales and Application Engineering teams.
Learn how to prepare estimates, recommendations, design modifications, exceptions to customer specifications, and other pertinent data required to satisfy customer requirements.
Learn how to design basic gas compression and refrigeration systems and prepare quotations at the most competitive level, while ensuring to meet company profitability and quality standards and customer delivery requirements.
Obtain and analyze application engineering data to adapt company solutions to customer requirements and develop bills of materials compressor solutions.
Identify “buyout” items (i.e., purchased from 3rd party vendors) needed to meet customer specifications and functional requirements, and work with the Materials Manager to identify qualified vendors.
Assist in the processing of orders, including a check of equipment pricing, ratings, selections, and sizing.
Act as a technical resource to customers and the Sales team, helping to problem solve any challenges.
Learn and understand industry trends and changes in gas compression and industrial refrigeration.
Complete, maintain, and organize all required paperwork, quotes, documentation, etc.
Help with special projects to improve sales and application engineering processes.
Follow all Vilter housekeeping procedures and comply with all quality and safety regulations.
Participate in Vilter training school functions and trade organization conferences.
Visit customer sites to see Vilter solutions in operation.

WHO YOU ARE:
You are an action-oriented person that ensures accountability and drives results.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Ability to work full-time in the summer and part-time throughout the school year
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, customer specifications, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and sales proposals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and other employees of the organization
Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions of customer requirements

Junior or Senior class status
Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

Flexible Work Schedule – Core Hours
This role has the flexibility of a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.
