Job Purpose or Objective(s): As the Conference Services/ Sales intern, you will partner with Sales and Conference Services to coordinate social and private group events. You will participate and oversee corporate meetings, corporate and social events, weddings, group functions and group activities booked through the Sales Department. You will report to the Director of Sales and Director of Catering and Conference Services.
Our Summer Intern Program is an 8-week temporary, paid program that runs from June 3rd - July 26th, 2024. This position pays $13 per hour.
Primary Tasks:
You will administrate and participate in the sales, planning, execution, and oversight of all the events at the conference center and the event center.
Execute catering and conference events along with the administration and planning of group meetings.
3.Participate in the communication and administration of all group specifications to the operational departments through banquet event orders (BEOs), Pre-Con Meetings, and attending weekly BEO and Resume meetings.
Audit rooming list from clients- send to Group Reservations Manager to enter hotel system.
Coordinate new and repeat business while maximizing banquet space for all catering events.
Communicate turnover to Catering & Conference Service Coordinators for event execution.
Work with Sales Managers, Event Coordinators and Catering Staff to ensure all details of the contract are delivered.
Other tasks as assigned.
Preferred Job qualifications
Internships are only open to Choctaw Nation tribal members currently enrolled in college.
Working towards Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Hotel, Sales, or Event Center Operations.
Set-up, execution, and follow-up of events.
High level of organizational and planning ability.
Strong computer skills. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
One (1) year prior Food/Beverage experience in hospitality industry, banquet/catering services.
