Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking motivated students with strong work ethic and a passion for safety for our summer safety internship program. Through close mentorship and hands-on activities over the summer program, PCI provides its interns with a real-world experience to shape their understanding of safety in the speciality construction industry.

The intern is designated a mentor and will work on completing the Performance Contracting Safety Intern Checklist , a framework to provide the intern with exposure to all the disciplines within the safety operations. As tasks are completed, interns complete Weekly Project Recaps which track individual activities and require detailed description of what was done, with whom it was completed with and what is taken away from the task.

Examples of tasks on the checklist include:

Learn the administration of the corporate safety program to minimize job site accidents

Participate and assist in safety meetings

Run safety specific reports

Cross train with departments with safety responsibilities

Attend OSHA training

Participate in Quality Assessment Reviews

Work directly with branches to understand their operations

Maintain accurate and timely project documentation and correspondence

Understand specialized equipment and software utilization

Complete an internship project

Pay range: $22/hr

This position is safety sensitive

Requirements

Minimum Requirements :

Must be a currently enrolled student seeking a Construction Safety, EHS, Safety Management or comparable degree

Must be able to travel to other markets within the internship period

Must have reliable source of transportation

Must be willing to relocate for the assignment

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

A clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work in team environment

Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught

Customer service skills

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Ability to multitask
