The Safety Director is responsible for the management, coordination and successful completion of safety requirements on their assigned geographical area. They should assume a leadership role for all staff members and Safety Managers as well as subcontractor partners in leading these teams to safely construct their project(s) and improve the workforce's attitude towards behaving in a safe manner both on and off the project. The ultimate goal is to ensure each worker returns home safely each and every day.
As Safety Director for a region of the Company, they must be vigilant in the education and training of field Superintendents and possess relationship building skills to ai in firmly establishing the safety culture the Company desires. They shall establish a relationship with all regulatory inspection agencies and further our image with each.
They shall also actively participate in the training and development of all Safety Managers on projects in their area of responsibility and be the conduit between all projects for best practices and transfer of knowledge. They will work closely with the Corporate Safety Director to introduce all new initiatives. Where there is no project specific Safety Manager, the Safety Director to introduce all new initiatives. Where there is no project specific Safety Manager, the Safety Director shall assume all the duties and responsibilities below and actively participate with the project teams to ensure worker safety.
The ultimate goal is to ensure each worker returns home safely each day.
Skills and Qualifications:
Four (4) year safety/health related degree minimum five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Completion of OSHA 500. Certificate must be current within four-year time period.
Complete the SafeStart training program so you can administer the training yourself.
Possess a valid Driver's License.
Previous experience in direct supervision of health and safety issues along with administration of programs such as Safety Training, Risk Analysis, Incident Investigations, Root Cause Analysis, and OSHA related issues, including but not limited to inspections.
