About Mechanical Engineer

  Brooks Instrument, a global manufacturer of flow and pressure measurement and control products for critical applications, and a division of ITW (A Fortune 200 Company) is seeking candidates for a Mechanical Engineer . This position will be based out of our headquarters facility in Hatfield, PA (Suburban Philadelphia). In addition to our Pennsylvania operations, Brooks maintains manufacturing locations in, Hungary, and Korea. The Company also maintains sales offices throughout the world. Our products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as: life sciences, chemicals, semiconductor, analytical instruments, nuclear, and solar cells.

  Basic Function * *

  Develop high precision mechanical product designs pertaining to Ultra High Vacuum equipment, processes & control devices which include planning, scheduling, and project management.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  Design tooling for proper assembly of precision components.

  Design and documentation of precision metrology, equipment & machinery. Assist operations team with equipment setup and validation. Service and repair faulty equipment during production line disruptions.

  Modify existing designs to improve performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.

  Design machined, molded, welded, etched, stamped, and extruded components including coordinating with electrical design group.

  Create 3D models of components and assemblies.

  Drafting 2D Drawings with knowledge of standard GD&T practices per ASME Y14.5.

  Assign part numbers, create Bills of Material, and define product configurations.

  Use PDM software & SharePoint to store and retrieve engineering design and process documentation.

  Direct and or perform design verification and validation testing of new designs including coordinating with service and reliability groups.

  Work with Marketing to determine product performance requirements.

  Implement and validate new designs at global manufacturing sites and service centers.

  Initiate and assist in implementation of Engineering Change Notices.

  Plan and conduct design-support work to maintain project timing.

  Design assignments may be occasionally broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.

  Support company continuous improvement initiatives, particularly as related to product quality.

  Maintain and enhance department safety policies and procedures.

  Other duties as assigned.

  Education and Experience

  BS in engineering required, Mechanical Engineering required. MS in Engineering a plus.

  5-15 years’ experience in high precision mechanical design of high vacuum & flow components / instrumentation / electromechanical devices required.

  Experience in manufacturing and assembly required.

  Expert proficiency in Solidworks & Design is required but other CAD packages considered.

  FEA Analysis required, Solidworks Simulation or Ansys Preferred.

  Solidworks PDM or Siemens Teamcenter experience is a plus.

  Ability to read and understand detailed technical drawings and specifications required.

  Ability to make technical contributions to a multi-disciplinary team required.

  GD&T proficiency a plus.

  Strong analytical skills required.

  Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook required. MS Project a plus.

  Technical report writing skills required.

  Ability to lead and manage small scale projects required.

  Ability to generate engineering standards required.

  Mathcad, Simulink, LabView, Python experience a plus.

  Experience with agency approvals such as UL, FM, PED, PIP and REACH/RoHS a plus.

  Experience with engineering standards such as ASME BPVC and SEMI a plus.

  Related experience or training in the following areas desired:

  High/Ultra High Vacuum systems

  Process control instrumentation

  Metrology

  Data collection and analysis

  Calibration
