  Position Summary

  The Rubber Mixing Operator is responsible for setting up, operating and preparation of raw materials, measuring components in accordance with recipe measurements, and adjusting automated mixing equipment to produce rubber by matching outlined specifications with quality checks throughout the operating shift. The operator ensures safe and proper operation of rubber mixing.

  Responsibilities

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  Maintains safe environment and a clean and orderly workplace per 3S standards.

  Responsible for performing regular quality checks as per SOP.

  Identify and resolve minor mechanical and quality problems.

  Performs weight and quantity measurements precisely on charted raw material.

  Operates automated rubber mixing equipment in accordance with the established procedures.

  Adjusts equipment as necessary to assure quality meets established specifications.

  Performs visual and mechanical quality checks to guarantee all rubber production meets quality standards per SOP.

  Documents quality checks on established charts and/or graphs as per production guidelines and procedures.

  Submits daily production reports using a department computer.

  Operates forklift and will have to complete forklift training.

  Other duties assigned as needed.

  QUALIFICATIONS

  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic computer skills required (Microsoft/data entry).

  LANGUAGE SKILLS

  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees.

  MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurements, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals with the ability to apply mathematical calculations to reach the proper recipe formulas and/or scale weight. Capability to convert Metric system measurements into Imperial system measurements or vice versa.

  REASONING ABILITY

  Ability to apply commonsense with understanding to provide detailed written and/or oral instructions. Ability to be flexible with problem solving and reach resolutions appropriately.

  PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  The physical demands described here are representative of those that are met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required: to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Frequently be required: to walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to achieve the requirements with or without a reasonable request.

  WORK ENVIRONMENT

  The work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, heat, and airborne particles and a face mask is required during these duties. The ability to pass a respirator test is mandatory. The noise level in the work environment is normally loud. Steel/Composite toed shoes, eye and ear protection is company provided (within reason) and always worn in this area. The indoor temperature is not a controlled climate environment and can be seasonably hot or cold depending on the weather temperatures outside.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
