POSITION SUMMARY The RTX EV Mechanics are tasked with repairing, rebuilding, or fixing components on fire apparatus, utilizing skills derived from every facet of the Rosenbauer production process. Their responsibilities extend to performing various department duties to achieve challenging objectives in the completion of fire apparatus, encompassing tasks in fabrication, plumbing, electrical work, and finishing products. Furthermore, the RTX EV Mechanics bear responsibility for installing hose beds, body panels, and other final components onto the fire apparatus, adhering to specifications. In this role, they drill, manipulate, and engage in light fabrication of parts and essential truck components, ensuring the completion of custom installations. These mechanics are also charged with routing wires for fire apparatus equipment according to wire diagrams and technical drawings. They are mandated to install 12v accessories, including sensors and lights, and are expected to fabricate boxes, mounts, and other equipment essential for the electrical installation, in accordance with the blueprint. WORKING CONDITIONS This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. The temperature varies due to the building not being temperature controlled and can be humid at times. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop which will cause a difficulty of hearing. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. This position may require contact with corrosives/oil/detergents but by following safety procedures, risk should be minimized. Sometimes this position requires to be above floor level and work in confined spaces. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires standing, walking, and the use of hands for the entire shift. It can become very loud in the shop with many machines being used at once. With constant noise, talking or hearing can be difficult. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, arms, legs, hands, and fingers for over 60 minutes at a time. This position requires reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The use of knees, back, and shoulders can range from 30 to 60 minutes. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
