JOB REQUIREMENTS: Assess patient health problems and needs, develop andimplement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administernursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. Mayadvise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or providecase management. Licensing or registration required. Administermedications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or sideeffects. Assess the needs of individuals, families, or communities,including assessment of individuals' home or work environments, toidentify potential health or safety problems. Consult and coordinatewith healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluatepatient care plans. Consult with institutions or associations regardingissues or concerns relevant to the practice and profession of nursing.Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel orsupervise a particular unit. Instruct individuals, families, or othergroups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, orchildbirth and develop health improvement programs. Maintain accurate,detailed reports and records. Modify patient treatment plans asindicated by patients' responses and conditions. Monitor all aspects ofpatient care, including diet and physical activity. Monitor, record, andreport symptoms or changes in patients' conditions. Observe nurses andvisit patients to ensure proper nursing care. Prepare patients for andassist with examinations or treatments. Provide health care, first aid,immunizations, or assistance in convalescence or rehabilitation inlocations such as schools, hospitals, or industry. Can read, write, and speakEnglish fluently at a seventh-grade level. Must have good vision toavoid committing medication errors; also hearing ability sufficient toassess residents and monitor staff. Must have physical abilities totolerate being on their feet much of the day, to be able to dotreatments, to occasionally assist with lifting and/or transfer ofresident. Must be ambulatory with full range of motion of allextremities and be able to lift fifty (50) pounds. Should be able toremain calm and think clearly in emergency situations; must beemotionally stable. Must enjoy working with the elderly.
