Position Responsibilities
Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
Evaluates wound care specialty products for cost and efficiency.
Competently performs/assists in all wound care procedures and processes.
Participates on Committees
Assists in development and review of guidelines, policies and procedures.
Coordinates delivery of care for patients receiving nursing care through Home Health Agencies, Nursing Care Facilities and Durable Medical Equipment Agencies.
Provides consultation, collaboration, marketing and education to community based agencies.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
Licensed as a Registered Nurse and authorized by the State of Iowa to practice nursing or has active multistate license approved by the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Achievement of Baccalaureate degree in nursing within 6 years of hire if hired after January 1, 2014.
Basic Life Support (BLS) training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
Must obtain certification in wound care within 2 years of hire.
Organizational Requirements:
Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
Professional certification in nursing specialty.
Obtain wound certification (WOCN) within two years of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Proficient in communication skills.
Ability to pursue and foster a sense of team and partnership across all disciplines.
Ability to communicate effectively, in English, with diverse population groups.
Ability to be self-directed, flexible, and able to adapt to change.
Ability to communicate effectively in a professional and tactful manner with physicians, staff, patients and/or their representatives.
Ability to read and understand chart documentation.
Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills.
Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in an acute care setting.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Two years of experience in chronic wound care.
