Job Summary:

　　Applies scientific knowledge / therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. As a team member in delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs of various age groups, including those in the pediatric areas.

　　$15,000 Bonus

　　Essential Functions:

　　Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines. Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards. Performs point of care testing as required.

　　Performs advanced evaluation, management and therapeutic procedures (interventions) for patients requiring respiratory assistance. Assesses effectiveness of intervention and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.

　　Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe. Maintains competency in areas of accountability.

　　Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.

　　Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.

　　Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.

　　Qualifications:

　　Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy – Required

　　Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy – Preferred

　　2 years of relevant experience pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education - Required

　　Registered Respiratory Therapist through NBRC – Required upon hire

　　Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) through NBDHMT required upon hire for those in Hyperbaric department

　　Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA or ARC required within 90 days

　　Sedation Certification through ANCC – required within 180 days for those within Bronchoscopy and Endoscopy departments

　　Respiratory Therapist license through State of Michigan – Required upon hire

　　Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required within 90 days for those within SHMG and Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab departments
