Job ID359197 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyResearch-Researchers Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9742R5 Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job Major Areas of Accountability Specific duties include but are not limited to: 25% Research related to waste byproduct utilization, utilization, microwave assisted pyrolysis and gasification for various solid waste including biowastes and waste plastics utilization for fuels, chemicals and materials production, advanced oxidation technology including nonthermal plasma and photocatalysis assisted low temperature microwave and intensive pulsed light technologies application in animal production facility disinfection, nitrogen fixation, and food safety assurance 25% Designs, plans, implements, and evaluates complex, multifaced research projects/systems remaining current on technological and scientific developments into experiment plan. 25% Discussing and plan new venues of investigating, assisting in drafting proposals to procure research funding. Interact with various agencies to acquire and interpret data, develop novel methods for analyzing data using programming, model building, and database development and management 25% Work with supervisor for experimental planning and execute experiments to sustain data acquisition and analysis, prepare manuscripts Qualifications Required Qualifications * Advanced degree with 1 or more years of research training in bioproducts and biosystems engineering, food science and engineering, or a related field * Demonstrated experience in byproduct utilization, solid waste utilization through thermochemical conversion, catalysis process development, nonthermal plasma and photocatalysis assisted low temperature microwave disinfection of virus and bacteria, and nonthermal plasma assisted synthesis, nitrogen fixation, and IPL process development * The ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team, accountability for assigned tasks, and excellent organizational skills * Excellent oral and written communications skills Preferred Qualifications * Knowledge of syngas fermentation, and biochar utilization. * Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively About the Department To learn more about the department, visit www.bbe.umn.edu Benefits Working at the University At the University of Minnesota, you'll find a flexible work environment and supportive colleagues who are interested in lifelong learning.
