　　rResponsibilities

　　rThe YoonLab{target="_blank"rel="noopener"} is looking for a highly motivated, organized,responsible person who will play a key role in achieving the mission ofthe lab. Using Drosophila (fruit fly), we aim to discover cellular andmolecular mechanisms how metabolic dysfunctions cause human diseasesincluding neurological diseases. We utilize variety of approachesincluding genetics, metabolomics, biochemistry, cell and molecularbiology as well as confocal and electron microscopy.

　　Responsibilities will include:

　　- Maintenance of Drosophila stocks

　　- Conducting genetic experiments to assess gene function in Drosophila

　　- Prep of Drosophila tissue samples and imaging using fluorescent andconfocal microscopes

　　- Conducting basic molecular biology experiments such as PCR andcloning

　　- Detailed documentation of experiments and results

　　- Participation in lab and departmental meetings

　　rQualifications

　　rrrrBachelors degree typically in one of the biological sciences and/orequivalent years of relevant laboratory experience.Familiarity withpipetting technique and calculation of solutionconcentrations/dilutions. Ability to record detailed procedures andresults.Apply developing knowledge to coordinate day-to-day work,complete a variety of detailed tasks and assignments. Basic knowledge ofInternet software, order processing system, data base and MicrosoftOffice software. Must be detail-oriented and work independently as wellas on a team.Ability o read and comprehend instructions, shortcorrespondence and protocols/procedures. Ability to write routinereports and correspondence. Ability to compute basic mathematicaloperations, i.e., rate, ratio, percent, molarity, and unit conversion.Ability to organize and perform precise and accurate work when dealingwith samples and chemicals.Ability to speak effectively to present ideasand data analysis to supervisor, who will decide how to proceed. Suggestchanges to experiments and procedures. Ability to exchange ideas andprocedures with co-workers and other labs.rrrr
