  A Brief OverviewA research technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Brad Lindell within the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Lindell is a pediatric intensivist who studies mechanisms of immune dysfunction in critically ill pediatric patients in collaboration with clinical and translational scientists throughout CHOP and UPenn.

  In this position, candidates will employ a range of cellular immunology techniques, including spectral flow cytometry, mass cytometry, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and mitochondrial function assays using human biospecimens. We then apply a systems immunology approach to this multimodal data to develop mechanistic hypotheses of human immune dysfunction in the setting of critical illness.

  OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: After a period of in-lab training by the principal investigator, the applicant will be responsible for independently performing complex immunological assays using fresh and cryopreserved human biospecimens. The candidate will function under the general guidance of the principal investigator, and as part of a team. Depending on candidate background and interest, they may also participate in the writing of project plans, grants, and scientific publications.

  Candidates must have at least one year of laboratory experience in immunology, cellular and molecular biology, or related fields. Competitive candidates will have experience in flow cytometry, RNA-seq, and translational immunology. Project leadership experience and excellent communication and organizational skills are fundamental to this position. Salary is competitive and will depend upon qualifications and previous training.
