  Job Description Summary

  Research Specialist A - The Bushman laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking qualified candidates for a position to carry out exciting analysis of genomic outcomes in human gene therapy. Using next generation sequencing the candidate will determine the location of new DNA inserted inot host genome. The position requires expertise in DNA manipulation. The candidate should have experience with DNA purification and amplification, with additional cloning and sequencing experience preferred. The applicant should also be familiar with online tools for DNA sequence manipulation and analysis. Expertise with programming and statistical analysis are also desirable.

  Research Specialist B: In addition to the above, the research specialist B will design experiments, analyze and interpret results independently and summarize results in written reports and team meetings.

  Present at lab meetings and journal club and manuscript preparation

  Qualifications

  Research Specialist A: Bachelor of Science in a biological field (preferred) and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  Research Specialist B: Bachelor of Science in a biological field (preferred) and 1-2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree preferred.

  Position is contingent upon funding.

  $36,368.00 - $57,335.40 Annual Rate

  Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
