Job Summary/Basic Function:
This position of Research Development Strategist is an integral memberof the Center for Research and Creative Activity. This experienced,professional-level position will contribute to the development andimplementation of the Division of Research and Economic Development\'sstrategy, priorities, and goals to grow the University\'s researchenterprise. This includes designing, coordinating, and implementingresearch-building activities, providing strategic and tactical supportto faculty and researchers throughout the entire proposal developmentlifecycle, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and sponsors to ensureefficient, responsive, and targeted use of research development servicesand resources.

The Center for Research and Creative Activity provides a strategic focusto achieve the Division of Research and Economic Development\'s visionfor Boise State University to \"grow in areas of research defined asthose with the greatest potential for distinction, and societal,cultural and economic benefit.\" Priorities for the Center for Researchand Creative Activity include establishing large federally fundedresearch centers in select areas of strength, cultivating strategic newareas of research that evolve from current research excellence, andcollaborating with faculty leaders and research teams. This position ishybrid/remote eligible with an expectation of being on campus 1-2 daysper week and attending on-campus meetings as needed.
Level Scope:
Recognized subject matter expert who knows how to apply theory and putit into practice with an in-depth understanding of the professionalfield with limited oversight from managers. Independently performs thefull range of responsibilities within the function; requires deep jobknowledge of area typically obtained through higher education combinedwith experience. Manages large projects or processes and problems facedare difficult and often complex; analyzes problems/issues of diversescope and determines solutions. May manage programs that includeformulating strategies and administering policies, processes, andresources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Influences othersregarding policies, practices and procedures.
Essential Functions:
60% of the Time the Research Development Strategist must:
Consult with PIs and research teams in support of identifying andanalyzing extramural funding opportunities; develop, build, andfacilitate collaborations with interdisciplinary andcross-institutional teams; understand sponsor priorities andrequirements; and provide both strategic and tactical supportthrough the entire proposal development lifecycle.Research and proposal development coordination, strategic planning,and tactical engagement with researchers.Development and maintenance of research and proposal developmentresources, templates, and processes, with a particular focus onoutreach and pathways that advance science and benefit society.Content development of broader impact strategies fo education andtraining activities, such as annual grant writing workshops, jobaids, workshops, panels, networking events, and research interestgroups.Assist, coordinate, and contribute with Center of Research andCreative Activity personnel on research development, education andtraining processes, and project management activities.Ensure efficient, responsive, and targeted use of researchdevelopment services and resources.Foster future growth and sustainability by providing projectmanagement skills, and grantsmanship expertise for proposaldevelopment by multidisciplinary teams of researchers, researchstaff, and educators.35% of the Time the Research Development Strategist
Develop and maintain proposal management systems (e.g., timelines,checklists, requirement matrices)
Build out broader impact resources and templates for research andproposal development. Assist PIs and researchers with proposaldevelopment, including advising, grantsmanship, and facilitatinginteractions with research administration.
Provide PIs and teams with overall grant writing strategies, processes,editorial positioning and style, and figure design to align with thestated goals of each funding agency.
