About the Department
The newly created Institute for Population and Precision Health (IPPH),located in the Biological Sciences Division, will integrate a widespectrum of factors such as human health behaviors, environmentalfactors, social and economic factors, policies and genetic determinantsof health, into studies focused on the treatment and prevention ofdisease, as well as the maintenance of wellness. Leveraging andintegrating the University of Chicago's considerable institutionalstrength in population science with research spanning diverse fieldssuch as genetic medicine, cancer epidemiology, microbiome, andepigenomics, the Institute will have the common goal of improving humanhealth outcomes. Another major goal of the Institute will be to developa new multidisciplinary training program to equip researchers withemerging tools and methods to conduct precision health research within apopulation health framework. Our faculty lead research projects inbiostatistics, epidemiology and health services research and participatein interdisciplinary teams with faculty in other departments to addresscomplex problems in health and healthcare, in our communities and aroundthe globe. Job Summary
The Institute for Population and Precision Health at the University ofChicago seeks a highly motivated Research Data Analyst to work onprojects related to social and environmental factors affecting mentalhealth and maternal and child health outcomes across the life course.The role involves collecting, organizing, and maintaining large spatialand non-spatial datasets from various sources, ensuring data integrityand security. The Research Data Analyst will assist in developingresearch protocols, contribute to literature reviews, and help writemanuscripts, grants, and reports. The position offers the opportunity towork directly with epidemiologists, geographers, clinicians, and datascientists at the University of Chicago and other leading universitieson several exciting epidemiologic and digital health studies.
Responsibilities
Works with partners and members of the research team to propose andimplement analytical approaches to solve specific epidemiologic,geospatial, and digital health research questions.Collect, organize, and maintain large spatial and non-spatialdatasets from various internal and external sources.Documents source code and data management and analysis procedures.Prepares tables and figures for manuscripts, abstracts, and otherscientific publications.Clean, manage, and analyze large datasets using statisticalsoftware.Assist in the development of research protocols and otherstudy-related documentation.Collaborate with the research team to interpret results andcontribute to the preparation of manuscripts, grant proposals, andconference presentations.Ensure data integrity and security throughout the research process,adhering to best practices in data management.Assist with literature reviews and help to write manuscripts,grants, and reports.Stay updated on new data analysis methods and tools relevant to theresearch field.Assists in analyzing data for the purpose of extracting applicableinformation. Performs research projects that provide analysis for anumber of programs and initiatives.May assist staff or faculty members with data manipulation,statistical applications, programming, analysis and modeling on ascheduled or ad-hoc basis.Collects, organizes, and may analyze information from theUniversity's various internal data syst ms as well as from externalsources.Maintains and analyzes statistical models using general knowledge ofbest practices in machine learning and statistical inference.Performs maintenance on large and complex research andadministrative datasets. Responds to requests and engages other ITresources as needed.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications
